Database Administrator (DBA)
Responsibilities:
• Scripting to automate operational tasks
• Day-to-day operations of fast-paced complex distributed database environments supporting primarily OLTP databases
• Database performance tuning
• SQL tuning
• Backup and recovery
• Root cause analysis of production-related database issues
• On-call support on a weekly rotational schedule
• Participate in any conversion required due to database product, application, or procedural change.
• Communicate effectively with all levels of technical and non-technical personnel / management.
• Follow recommendations for workflow and/or procedural improvements within the Database area.

Qualifications
• B.S degree in Computer Science and/or appropriate certifications
• 2+ years of experience with one of the following databases in high availability environments: Oracle, Sybase, Informix, DB2
• Knowledge of one or two other major RDBMS, especially MS SQL, Vertica, mySQL
• Strong working knowledge of DBA best practices (e.g., schema management, index optimization, and use of hints)
• Strong query and database tuning skills
• Experience in a 24X7 production environment
• Capacity monitoring and management capabilities
• UNIX shell scripting and SQL skills
• Fast troubleshooting and resolution skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities
• Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with DBA and application teams
