Remote Volume Mirroring Requirements
Remote Volume Mirroring (RVM) is tested and certified at the required technical
specifications for the following operating systems: AIX, Sun, and Linux Red Hat. If these
requirements are not met, Remote Volume Mirroring is not guaranteed to work as
intended. Fulfill all of the requirements listed in this chapter for an efficient installation.

Solution Preparation
Before you install Remote Volume Mirroring, you must complete the following
preparations:

Document all hardware, software applications, and infrastructure equipment to be used
in the RVM Solution. See the "
Preinstallation Checklist
" on page
2-3
.
·
Develop a list of contacts within the organization of key persons and their roles (for
example, database administrators, system administrators, IT staff, network engineers,
ISP providers, or purchasing assistants).
·
Understand how the customer's business is currently being performed and how it
should work after the RVM Solution is implemented.
·
Using the sample scripts provided in this guide, design the end state RVM Solution that
you want to achieve. Work with contacts within your organization to develop a project
plan and form an implementation team.
Required Expertise
The implementation team must have the following areas of expertise to plan, install,
configure, and operate the RVM Solution.
·
LSI storage system systems experts
·
SANshare Storage Partitioning and RVM experts
·
Host OS administrators (such as UNIX and Windows)
·
Network administrators (IP, WAN, LAN)
·
Database administrators (such as Oracle, DB2, and My-SQL)
