Database Admin I
Under limited supervision, reviews, evaluates, performs upgrades of operating systems, databases and other system software. Investigates and resolves related system software issues: Monitors system performance and tunes the environment to optimize cost and throughput. Offers technical assistance in the development of a distributed environment. Provides technical assistance to the application staff as needed. Position demands outstanding technical skills and comprehensive experience across multiple platforms, along with the ability to work with little supervision. Good troubleshooting and debugging skills are essential. Employee must exercise high degree of independence and discretion. Employee is expected to exercise sound judgement in reporting critical priorities to management. Job requires employee to be on-call and occasionally work nights and weekends.
A Bachelors degree or an Associates degree plus two years experience in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field is preferred. Experience in systems development and maintenance, and/or experience in the support of complex database management systems. Strong skills in the administration of relational database; Especially DB2. Skills and ability to keep multiple platforms organized; specifically LINUX and Windows. Position requires extensive technical expertise in DB2 and/or other relational databases.
