SQL Database Administrator
Key results for our SQL DBA include:
Manage database systems in a mission critical, dynamic, 24x7 environment
Perform all database administration duties including but not limited to: replication management, backups/disaster recovery, server configuration, security/permissions management, index maintenance, query tuning, performance tracking, reviews/approves database changes, resolves outages/locking, and data warehousing
Performance Tuning: Review monitoring tools and query execution plans to maintain or increase query efficiency. Also perform root cause analysis on query performance issues
Database tuning, SQL tuning and optimization, Troubleshoot performance issues and recommend fixes
Plan, coordinate, test and roll-out Microsoft patches & upgrades
Assist in Disaster Recovery documentation, planning, and testing
Participate in rotational on-call coverage and production releases/conversions
Evaluate new features and technologies, provide recommendations to improve existing environments
Work with developers reviewing database schema changes for upcoming projects/releases
Manage database tasks for conversion of plan assets from outside platforms
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and at least four or more years’ experience in the design and administration of logical and relational databases in diverse technological environments, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Expertise in designing, implementing and maintaining High Availability solutions.
Expertise in core SQL Server concepts - performance monitoring/tuning, replication, partitioning, log shipping.
Willingness to provide afterhours support on a schedule and in rare occasions short notice is a must.
Strong written and verbal communications skills required; ability to interact with management and business application owners to communicate status and collect requirements.
