Junior Database Administrator
Daily Expectations:
Perform routine monitoring, administration and maintenance of the Microsoft SQL databases within the customer hosted environments
Prepare and conduct system and programming tests requiring interfacing of hardware and software
Create and update existing documentation of processes and procedures in support of administration tasks
Actively contribute to the configuration, layout and performance tuning of the production infrastructure
Respond to service ticket requests, using Jira software, and troubleshoot issues as needed
Assist with customer implementations and upgrades
Support requests for unscheduled Database backups and restores
Participate in rotating 24x7 “on call” support coverage for data center related issues
Perform maintenance related activities during scheduled weekend maintenance windows.
Requirements Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
1 – 2 years previous related experience
Knowledge of a ticketing system, preferably Jira, but not required.
Basic understanding of Microsoft SQL Server platform preferred; 2012 or 2008R2
Knowledge to read/write basic T-SQL commands; create objects (users, databases, tables, store procedures, etc)
Ability to work on problems of moderate scope, where analysis of situation requires a review of identifiable factors
Must be able to exercise judgment within defined procedures to determine appropriate action
Must have strong organizational and multi-tasking skills to prioritize workload in a fast paced environment
