Junior Database Administrator
Role Summary:
The Junior Database Administrator will join our IT Operations Team to help tune and maintain our SQL Server environment. Job duties will include performance tuning, performing upgrades, applying patches, maintaining several SQL Server instances and maintaining a high availability cluster. The Junior DBA will work closely with developers to help identify poorly performing queries and offer suggestions on how to improve performance. The Junior DBA will also work with the IT Operations Team to help coordinate and promote development changes into production.
Essential Responsibilities:
Scheduling jobs and job monitoring
Performance tuning
Troubleshooting issues
Performing SQL Server upgrades, applying patches, and monitoring status
Helping to promote development changes into production
Manage user and role level security
Preferred Qualifications & Requirements:
3-5 years’ experience creating and maintaining SQL Server databases and instances in a production environment.
3-5 years’ experience performance tuning stored procedures and SQL statements
1-2 years’ experience maintaining highly available databases and database clusters.
Attention to detail and ability to stay focused under pressure
Experience with backing up and restoring databases
