Senior SQL\Server Database Administrator
Responsibilities:
Designs, tests, implements, maintains and secures the organization's production and non-production MS SQL databases, in high-volume environments, utilizing state of the art concepts and employing leading-edge maintenance techniques to maximize Application availability.
Collaborates on the development of technical and security standards with other database administrators and technical resources.
Provides on-call support for production environments on a shared DBA rotation.
Provides 24/7 support for various activities including: Database maintenance, Application Releases, Application Database upgrades, DBMS upgrades, and Disaster Recovery.
Provides consultation to Application Developers / Data Modelers on:
Logical to Physical Database design
SQL Performance and Tuning for both OLTP and OLAP processing
Processing features/parameters for MS SQL
Utility usage and Automation
Security features and related implementations
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, and experience in the design and administration of logical and relational databases in diverse technological environments, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Proficiency in MS SQL 2008 / 2012 and related product technologies – including TDP, Snap Manager for backups , Log Shipping and SQL Replication
Proficiency in Windows scripting
Understands the systems development process and has a solid understanding of business processes.
Analytical ability, good communication skills, strong judgment, and the ability to work effectively with clients and IT management and staff.
General knowledge in the following areas: IT concepts, strategies, and methodologies, architectures and technical standards, database administration tools and utilities, application architectures and design principles, infrastructure architectures, backup and recovery, storage subsystems, and replication concepts.
