SQL server DBA
Daily Job Responsibilities:
Ability to install, configures, & troubleshoot SQL server 2008 R2 infrastructure.
Ability to migrate SQL instances/database between SQL servers.
Ability to install, configures, & troubleshoots SQL server high availability features.
Ability to configure hardware/software in accordance with DISA STIGs.
Scripting of SQL processes to automate processes.
Develops and enforces database administration and user standards and procedures; audits, modifies, and amends data in systems using SQL commands.
Required Skills:
Installing and upgrading the database server and application tools.
Allocating system storage and planning future storage requirements for the database system.
Modifying the database structure, as necessary, from information given by application developers.
Enrolling users and maintaining system security.
Ensuring compliance with database vendor license agreement.
Minimum Required Skills:
Controlling and monitoring user access to the database
Monitoring and optimizing the performance of the database
Planning for backup and recovery of database information
Maintaining archived data
Backing up and restoring databases
Preferred Skills:
Contacting database vendor for technical support
Generating various reports by querying from database
Scripting as necessary to automate currently mostly manual processes
Degree & Years of Experience:
Bachelors with 2-4 years experience, or 3-5 years experience
