APPLICATIONS DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR (DBA)
This position will be responsible for Teradata Application DBA tasks and will work in concert with the Teradata Operations DBA and other Technical staff. Increasing responsibilities in this position’s daily activities will include maintaining logical and physical models in support of the reporting semantic layer, database security, support/best practices/operational guidelines to project/maintenance staff, rotations for Primary Support, general data warehouse support, troubleshooting performance issues, resolving technical and/or data issues, and all other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide Teradata Application-level database support
oLogical and physical modeling – Semantic Layer, PI, PK, Tables, Views
oScheduled Daily processes: Macros, Stored Procedures, Data Loads, System Load
oStatistics analysis/updates
oDatabase security
oTechnical expertise with TTU, TPT, SQL, BTEQ, Stats/Index wizards, TASM
oTroubleshoot database related technical / performance issues
oDevelop, maintain and help enforce best practices and operational guidelines
oDocument database operational procedures
oPerformance monitoring
Provide Cognos support
oFramework modeling
oAdministration
oPerformance monitoring
Provide technical assistance on assigned EDW-related issues
Take rotations on EDW Primary Support for all planned activities and unplanned production issues to minimize disruption to the business
Work with vendors to open tickets and resolve issues
Work with Scheduling team to maintain job schedules and dependencies
Experience Required: ? 1-3 years’ worth of knowledge/experience with SQL
? Experience working with technical teams to deliver solutions on time and on budget
? Experience working with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio)
? Preferred experience with:
o Using Teradata in a data warehouse environment
o Development/Maintenance of Logical/Physical data models
o Working knowledge of Unix/Shell scripting
o ETL development/troubleshooting (Informatica, SAP Data Services (BODS))
o Cognos 10 BI reporting tools
o Cognos 10 development, including Framework & Transformer modeling
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to work independently while communicating activities
Strong written & verbal English communication skills
Flexible, motivated, positive and team-oriented attitude
Excellent interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with team members in a remote capacity
Education Required: Bachelor’s degree or higher in MIS, preferably with a data warehouse or relational database specialization or similar experience
