The Entry Level Database Administrator (DBA) provides administration for Oracle databases across an entire promotional environment including Development, Test and Production, and administrates disaster recovery. The Entry Level DBA works with architecture, application development and operations to contribute to achieving a state-of-the-art environment that meets current and future business objectives; provides and designs tools to assist in the management of the database and transaction processing environment; works to provide a working model of our transaction processing environment for capacity assessment and planning.


Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24/7 database support Monitor backup (RMAN) results and resolve/troubleshoot failed database backups Monitor database and server performance and identify current and future potential bottle-necks Review, maintain, and periodically test database recovery procedures Apply database security patches Apply database maintenance patches and upgrade databases to supported release levels Perform new builds as required by projects Develops security scheme(s) for the database environment Develop both physical and logical database administration functions Work with vendors in evaluating and implementing new technologies


EDUCATION: Bachelorís degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field


∑ Knowledge of server-client computing and relational database environments

∑ Working knowledge of reporting and query tools and practices

∑ Knowledge of data management and data processing flowcharting techniques

∑ Knowledge of database lifecycles - builds, patching, backups, recoveries, tuning

∑ Technical documentation skills

∑ Solid verbal and written communication skills

∑ Excellent organizational, project management and time management skills

∑ Ability to break down complex concepts and data and make them accessible to others

∑ Ability to produce consistent positive results with minimal direction and supervision

∑ Ability to prioritize and execute in a fast-paced environment with varying requirements and deadlines
