Junior Database Administrator
Job Responsibilities:
? Providing day-to-day support and maintenance for databases underlying the College’s enterprise applications, including the Banner ERP, Banner ODS and other critical applications.
? Planning and implementing database system functions such as reviewing, applying, and testing patches and upgrades to enterprise applications and databases.
? Working with security officers to plan, design, and implement security protocols to safeguard sensitive and mission-critical data.
? Establishing, documenting and implementing successful, regular database backups and testing and reviewing backup and recovery procedures.
? Ensuring optimal performance and availability; resolving database capacity, replication, and other distributed data issues; cloning database instances.
? Addressing database integration including migration between disparate databases.
? Defining, recommending, and developing database standards, procedures, and architecture.
? Performing daily and weekly maintenance tasks including checking backups, reviewing alert files, cleaning collector tables checking for invalid objects and security violations, and managing and monitoring ODS loads.
? Managing data storage utilization, reporting data storage or backup problems; making recommendations to improve procedures, software, or equipment.
? Preparing and maintaining up-to-date documentation for routine aspects of position responsibilities.
? Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
? A baccalaureate degree and two to four years’ experience working in a production database environment, or an appropriate combination of training, work experience, and skills is required.
? Must have excellent troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.
? Strong organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and with a team on small and large scale projects in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment is required.
Skills and Experience
? Oracle and/or SQL Server database administration experience, including creating, monitoring, upgrading, patching, backing up, and securing complex, production-critical databases.
? Familiarity with the Oracle Internet Application/Fusion Middleware Server (AOS/iAS/OFM) desired.
? Experience with and proficiency in administering databases running on UNIX, Linux, and/or Windows.
