Database Administrator - Technical Lead
Functions as a technical project leader or provides work leadership for less experienced personnel on a portfolio of databases, including installations and upgrades of DBMS software and backup/recovery strategies
Oversee the daily DBA activities to ensure work is completed timely, accurately and according to standards.
Create and maintain performance benchmarks and metrics as well as make recommendations on application specifications for optimal database performanc
Oversees the analysis and determination of database performance characteristics, informational needs and elements, data relationships and attributes, proposed manipulation, data flow and storage requirements, and data output and reporting capabilities for more complex databases. Recommends and implements tuning opportunities to improve system response and run times.
Develops and implements standards and procedures to improve team efficiency and accuracy.
Reviews and approves application and database design decisions to ensure that application solutions exhibit high levels of performance, security, scalability, maintainability, and reliability upon deploy
Assists database manager in the development of project plans including detailed project estimates and tasks required for database activities.
Provide database application support to development teams, consult with development teams on database design, optimization, and engage in ongoing database performance tuning efforts to assure optimal performance for database a
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, or related field preferred
Six or more years of experience in development and design of database strategies; monitoring and improving database performance and capacity; data recovery; planning for future expansion and implementation of database changes as submitted by the development team and general administrator support.
Experience working with computer hardware and software installation/upgrading procedures
Experience working with database and system maintenance procedures
Experience working with database creation techniques and database management systems (DBMS) features
Experience working with database performance tuning
Advanced Procedural Language (PL/SQL) experience and knowledge with Data Management Tools; TOAD and OEM (11g).
5+ years of experience analyzing and tuning PL/SQL and SQL scripts for performance.
Proven experience working in Oracle 11g env
5+ years of experience writing and tuning Oracle PL/SQL packages and stored procedures.
2+ years of experience installing and patching Oracle RAC environments.
2+ years of leadership experience guiding work teams as a Senior DBA or Lead DBA.
