Key Roles and Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate creation and maintenance all databases and database systems.
Perform daily database system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
Lead and coordinate performance tuning of the system and database code as needed.
Define procedures and algorithms for capacity planning, including growth, storage layouts
Identify and implement automation for DBA activities
Coordinate software patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure or add new services as necessary.
Define operational, configuration, or other procedures.
Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
Define procedures and guidelines for ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
Identify and implement automation for maintenance activities
Essential Requirements
Related work experience as a DBA; 3-6 years
Experience with maintaining, administering, and troubleshooting in Windows and Unix/Linux environments.
Experience with virtualization technologies, including VMware, Hyper-V or Oracle VM.
Experience with programming or scripting skills, including Perl, Bash, and Csh.
Experience with backup and data protection technologies.
