Database Administration Advisor
Provide physical data base support for SQL Server database, ensuring database integrity and availability. This position will be responsible for monitoring, analysis and tuning database performance at both the system and application level. Additional responsibilities include design, development, implementation, and operation of database security. Implement database solutions for new development with consideration to impacts on application, network, hardware,
and operating system. Forecast long-range requirements for
database administration. Provide physical database design as
well as participate in application and system architecture design. Design and implement database backup and recovery strategies. Manage database and database support tool configurations in development, test, and production environments. Prepare disaster recovery documentation and participate in DR activities.
Provide on-call problem support in a 24x7 environment.
Document database environment and support processes.
Mentor development of other database administrators.
Develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards
for tools and methodologies to improve database administration capabilities and efficiencies. Plan and lead database team initiated projects.
Required Qualifications:
A minimum of nine years in information technology with at least five of those years as a SQL Server DBA. Deep knowledge of MS SQL Server database administration at the design, operational, and system levels. Experienced in MS SQL Server 2008 with working knowledge of MS SQL Server 2012. Strong understanding of all components of MS SQL Server including Management Studio, SQL Profiler, SSIS, Reporting Services, and clustering. Strong understanding of interaction between Windows and SQL Server. Demonstrate ability to use SQL to make database object changes. Demonstrate ability to tune complex database systems at the application, database and system levels. Thorough knowledge of and experience with database security, backup, recovery and archiving. Demonstrated project management skills. Demonstrated collaboration, facilitation, and cross functional team skills. Demonstrated documentation maintenance and process improvements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Attention to detail.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related work experience. If no degree, two adiditonal years of experience
