Database Administrator, Senior
Creates and maintains all databases required for development, testing and production usage
Performs the capacity planning required to create and maintain the databases.
The DBA works closely with system administration staff to ensure no conflicts between local computers’ applications or tools and Oracle databases.
Performs ongoing tuning of database instances.
Installs new versions of the Oracle RDBMS and its tools and any other tools that access the Oracle database
Plans and implements backup and recovery of the Oracle database
Controls migrations of programs, database changes, reference data changes and menu changes through the development life cycle
Implements and enforces security for all of the Oracle Databases
Performs database re-organizations as required to assist performance and ensure maximum uptime of the database
Qualifications:
BS in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience.
Has 5+ years’ experience in Oracle Administration with strong Oracle database administration skills (Oracle 10g and 11g) with SQL Plus.
Minimum 5 years of database development and support in Oracle environments.
Certification and ongoing training on at least one DBMS, including detailed knowledge of the database and DBMS software, and some programming skills
Track record in performance optimization and high availability/disaster recovery.
An understanding of business processes and the database they access, and the flow of information between processes
Proven ability to discuss database and data management techniques and capabilities with both technical and business audiences.
Knowledge of Windows Server administration, preferably in a Windows 2008 or 2012 environment.
General knowledge of Cognos BI (v.10.x) and Crystal Reports (v.11)
Programming skills in Visual Basic, .COM Objects, .NET, ASP desireable
Strong problem solving skills
SQL Server experience a plus
