Oracle or SQL Server Administrator Database
Working knowledge of database concepts, design and deployment, recovery techniques, performance monitoring and tuning, Structured Query Language, and relational database design techniques.
Ability to review physical databases design under supervision with developers and create objects in development, maintenance, testing, training, and production environments.
Run diagnostic tools to identify database performance bottlenecks, and take appropriate corrective actions to improve database performance. Work with development teams to tune SQL queries.
Create database users and assign appropriate roles.
Experience in deploying code from a staging environment to production.
Experience in maintaining both a staging and production environment.
Ability to assist in the support of a variety applications as it pertains to database support.
Good knowledge of change management process and procedures.
Under supervision, assist in physical schema design of table spaces, rollback segments, and data files.
Experience in the data extract, migration, and queuing facilities.
Proficiency in the concepts and practice of database normalization techniques.
Knowledge of server-side development issues surrounding triggers, stored procedures, and packages.
Experience with Unix shell scripting languages.
Knowledge of SQL, including ability to optimize SQL code.
Experience in one or more of the following tools: Oracle Enterprise Manager, TOAD, DBArtisan.
Ability to write clear technical documents.
Required Education & Experience:
In order to accomplish the essential duties of this position, the incumbent should have Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline; equivalent experience acceptable.
At least 1 to 3 years of experience in administration, programming, and support of RDBMS's (Oracle or SQL Server) in one or more computing environments: Unix, Windows
1 to 3 years of experience as a DBA in one or more environments is highly desirable (preferably with RDBMS's) or strong, demonstrated DBA skills earned in equivalent experience.
Knowledge of applications such as discover and Oracle 11i especially the Supply Chain Module
Must be on a career path to take the DBA certification exams over the next 12 months
Ability to run diagnostic tools such as stats pack in both a 10G and 9i environment
