Microsoft SQL Database Administrator (DBA)
• Ensure all databases are appropriately backed up, and conduct disaster recovery tests at regular intervals
• Set up high availability for the database servers, by using clustering, log shipping, mirroring, replication, and SAN replication
• Set up new database servers with optimal configurations for performance, and high availability
• At a regular interval, provide one week of nightly and weekend on-call support, as part of the DBA on call rotation
• Conduct regular SQL deployments into production environments, while ensuring deployment success and data integrity
• Troubleshoot database performance problems as they arise, and conduct root cause analysis
• Review poor performing queries, while providing improvement feedback for the development process
• Maintain indexes on servers, by conducting use analysis to determine what indexes should be added or removed. Need to understand intricacies of the various index structures
• Write complex SQL queries, including the use of correlated subqueries, windowed functions, pivots, recursive CTEs, etc.
• Write adhoc reports as needed
• Manage various work requests from multiple sources
• Work with vendors to evaluate and implement new technologies
• BA / BS Degree or equivalent experience
• 1-3 years of experience in the administration of Microsoft SQL 2005, 2008 or 2012
• Good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
• Self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail
• Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
• Able to multitask, prioritize and manage time and complex tasks and projects effectively
