Database Administrator
* Analyze and configure SQL Server system with focus on optimization in the areas of memory, CPU, disk space and network
* Work with server and network installers to determine best configuration for new servers running Microsoft SQL Server
* Install and configure SQL Server instances as necessary
* Keep all SQL Server instances current with SQL Server-related service packs and hotfixes, making sure that all related development, test and production environments are in sync
* Implement new data models and database designs in accordance with application requirements. Analyze existing models and designs when working with application change requests.
* Coordinate with team to determine impact of database changes on related systems and associated staff cost for implementation
* Design, develop, test and maintain database objects related to custom DBA scripts and utilities
* Develop, manage and implement policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the company databases
* Design, assign and maintain role-based security as needed
* Train users and answer questions as needed
* Thoroughly document all work
* 5+ years of professional experience administering Microsoft SQL Server technologies
* 3+ years of professional experience in data analysis and/or database development
* Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008/2012
* Skilled at constructing SQL statements, stored procedures and functions using Transact-SQL (T-SQL)
* Experience working with Windows Server 2003/2008
* Understanding of optimal disk configurations for SQL Server
* Thorough knowledge of database design, data modeling and related tools
* Good interpersonal and communication skills
* Strong problem-solving skills
* Possess equal parts of attention to detail and style, humble attitude and hunger for a challenge
Education and/or Experience
B.A. or B.S. from four-year college or university; or equivalent and relevant work-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
