Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator
* Develop comprehensive understanding of current web application and Microsoft SQL Server landscape, including servers, databases, applications, and users
* Make certain all SQL Server database servers and user databases are available at all times
* Ensure success of all Microsoft SQL Server database backup jobs and the validity of the backup files
* Manage and implement performance monitoring, utilizing native tools, existing scripts/automation and creating new ones as needed
* Identify and resolve issues related to database performance, capacity, security, clustering and replication
* Analyze and configure SQL Server system with focus on optimization in the areas of memory, CPU, disk space and network
* Work with server and network installers to determine best configuration for new servers running Microsoft SQL Server
* Install and configure SQL Server instances as necessary
* Keep all SQL Server instances current with SQL Server-related service packs and hotfixes, making sure that all related development, test and production environments are in sync
* Implement new data models and database designs in accordance with application requirements. Analyze existing models and designs when working with application change requests.
* 5+ years of professional experience administering Microsoft SQL Server technologies
* 3+ years of professional experience in data analysis and/or database development
* Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008/2012
* Skilled at constructing SQL statements, stored procedures and functions using Transact-SQL (T-SQL)
* Experience working with Windows Server 2003/2008
* Understanding of optimal disk configurations for SQL Server
* Thorough knowledge of database design, data modeling and related tools
Education and/or Experience
B.A. or B.S. from four-year college or university; or equivalent and relevant work-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
