SQL Database Administrator
1. In SQL environments protect all production data from loss or corruption
2. SQL database server installation, troubleshooting, configuration, backup/restore, upgrades, capacity planning, exports, imports, and tuning
3. Complete performance analysis and implement performance improvements
4. Perform disaster recovery tests and document procedures
5. Assess database storage requirements and review current and projected data growth
6. Support, install and configure database and application high availability for the SQL databases
7. Monitoring database service packs, patches, and potential security issues from database vendors and other sources to ensure the company databases are maintained for optimal performance and adequate security
8. Work with application administrators to resolve application issues during application installation, configuration and operation when there is an issue with performance or connections
9. Automate repetitive tasks with windows, Linux, Perl or other scripting tools. Write T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and packages to support report requests
10. Provide change requests and access control according to company policy, SOX and established procedures. Review and develop procedures as required
11. Provide support to 3rd and 2nd level colleagues and cross-training as required to ensure consistency and coverage for key personnel
12. Provide 24/7 on-call support for production systems as required
Position Requirements
• Required: 8+ years of experience with SQL database administration: database setup, installation, configuration, backup/restore/disaster recovery, upgrade/migration/patching, monitoring, and performance tuning
• Required: Extensive experience in database tuning
• Required: Proven track record of continuous learning and ability to adapt to change
• Desired: Familiarity with VMWare and running database systems on VMWare
• Desired: Experience writing scripts (Windows, UNIX, Perl, et.cl ) and SQL to automate repetitive tasks
• Desired: Application support experience such as Content Server, IIS web servers, MS Dynamics GP, Changepoint, SAP, and et al.
