Database Administrator
. Assists senior and lead database administrators in the planning, managing, and support of all custom and vendor application databases. Assures the high availability of mission critical enterprise databases. Implements data models and schema designs. Creates database tables, indexes, triggers, stored procedures, and views to support new and existing applications. Designs and implements incremental and full back up policies and recovery procedures. Provides capacity planning. Monitors database size and performance. Tunes databases and SQL queries. Performs data extraction, transformation, and loading. Develops prototypes to demonstrate proposed functionality. Produces database support documentation. Provides server, database maintenance and production support. Other duties as required.
Occasional Duties
Bachelor's degree or any equivalent combination of training and experience. One year of experience may substitute for one year of education. Two years of database administration experience. Know capabilities of and how to use SQL Server Management Studio, SQL Server Integration Services, and SQL Server Business Intelligence Studio. Must be able to work in a collaborative team environment. Strong interpersonal communication skills. Must be able to consult with customers to gather requirements. Strong interpersonal communication skills. Strong grammar, spelling and organizational skills. Excellent attention to detail is essential. Strong communication skills (both written and oral). High attention to quality, accuracy and detail. Must demonstrate a customer service orientation with a commitment to consultation and cooperation with faculty, staff and administrators. Position requires the ability to learn new technology concepts and skills quickly. Position will be required to occasionally work outside regularly scheduled hours (in cases of system upgrades, system support, and/or the timely completion of major information technology projects). Requires the ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
