Oracle Database Administrator
- Providing design assistance, analyzing and managing application and database solutions with technical emphasis in performance monitoring, problem identification and resolution;
- Assisting with tuning and monitoring of the operational efficiency and technical integrity of applications in support of internal and external customers;
- Performing data analysis, testing and software configuration of customer environments as necessary;
- Analyzing trends and reporting potential problems or areas of improvement;
- Prioritizing numerous issues of varying severity, and effectively managing the resolution of all issues within accepted service levels; and
- Assisting with the creation and maintenance of departmental documentation and standards
Qualifications:
The successful candidate must possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related area (equivalent work experience will be considered);
- 3+ years experience with Oracle 9i/10g/11g database and application services including installation, maintenance, tuning, monitoring and backups;
- Experience working with external customer production environments;
- Experience with Oracle upgrades;
- Significant hands-on experience with PL/SQL, SQL Plus, stored procedures/packages, import/export, database administration and replication;
- Strong proficiency in running Oracle on Linux or other UNIX platforms;
- Experience with NAS Storage systems is preferred, though not required;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work with customers through difficult technical problems while maintaining a high level of professionalism; and
- Ability to participate in 24/7 rotating on-call schedule
