You will work with users to define database requirements, and develop, integrate and support efficient, scalable, reliable databases. You will also evaluate new database and report technology, plan and lead database projects and activities, perform cost*benefit analyses and risk assessments, and track project progress using standard project management tools. In addition, you will create and maintain documentation, schedule validating and backing-up of systems, and monitor and install upgrades, patches and modifications. Responsibilities include a variety of database administration activities including performance tuning and capacity planning, monitoring and maintaining database security and software, assisting with troubleshooting, exception processing and other data management issues, and providing 24 hour on-call support as requested.
A related Bachelors degree or equivalent and five or more years of database development experience utilizing SQL and SQL reporting tools are required. Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - 2010, SQL relational databases, SQL and Shell Scripting, and reporting tools including MS Reporting is essential. Experience with database creation, monitoring, backup and recovery is important. Familiarity with database normalization rules, SQL Server installation and configuration, SQL Server integration with Windows 2008 server and experience designing, developing, and implementing complex database structures are necessary. Demonstrated abilities with RDMS software and tools installation, configuration management, security administration, monitoring and tuning, backup and recovery (RMAN), troubleshooting and efficient use of database storage are also required. Strong analytical, problem-solving, organization and communication skills, and the ability to set priorities to plan, organize and carry out responsibilities are important. Data warehouse technology and methodology skills are preferred.
