SQL Server Database Admin
* Identify and implement database monitoring, capacity planning and performance monitoring processes
* Installation, configuration and maintenance of database software, patches, upgrades and utilities
* Work with NT systems administrators for installation, configuration and maintenance of RDBMS patches and upgrades
* Document all aspects of the database administration function including but not limited to best practices, job related white papers, and database architecture
* Plan and implement installation, configuration and integration of RDBMS software with the following applications.
* Internet/Intranet applications (NetScape, Apache, IIS)
* Remedy Call Center/Trouble Ticket System
* Document Management systems
* Internal business systems (billing, asset management, inventory)
Accountabilities:
o Work with customer to define database layout, replication, storage management and backup and restore design requirements
o Implement performance monitoring and capacity planning utilities to manage customer RDBMS environments
o RDBMS performance tuning
o Respond to customer related RDBMS problems or inquiries
o Work with UNIX and NT engineers to configure optimize NT/UNIX servers for RDBMS applications
o Work with UNIX and NT engineers to map and optimize RDBMS tables to storage groups
o Work with Business Systems Managers and Sales teams to address and meet new customer business requirements
o Quote costs per customer requirements via Request for Proposal (RFP) or Purchase Requisition for RDBMS related products or services
o 2 to 4 years experience with the SQL Server RDBMS
o Transact-SQL programming experience
o Experience with RDBMS backup/restore configurations
o Proficiency with SQL Server Enterprise Manager
o Designed and implemented replicated SQL Server applications
o Proficiency with Web/RDBMS applications development and integration
o Proficiency with programming/scripting languages (Batch)
o 2+ years experience with NT or Windows 2000 operating systems and services
o BS in Computer Science or equivalent
