Database Administrator

BS Degree in a technical or scientific discipline such as Math or Computer Science or comparable combination of education and experience.
*
Demonstrated experience with complex Unix operating systems, backup-recovery processes, job scheduling, communication protocols and system utilities including Solaris and Linux.
*
Minimum of three years managing, supporting, and deploying production databases on UNIX, such as Sybase, MySQL, Oracle, DB2, PostgreSQL, and/or MS SQL Server and their associated SQL programming languages (i.e. SQL-PL, PL/SQL, T-SQL, etc.).
*
Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of SQL writing and tuning skills. Working knowledge and experience of Unix scripting languages such as Perl.
*
Demonstrated experience maintaining & administering relational databases. Experience with database architectures and best practices.
*
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated interpersonal skills to professionally and effectively interact with a diverse population in person, over the phone, and in writing.
