MS SQL Server Database Admin
The Microsoft SQL Server DBA is responsible for managing multiple MS SQL Server databases and ensuring their performance; availability and security. This position regularly interacts with Data Architects; application developers; system administrators and project managers. The successful candidate works independently and cooperatively within a team structure; in both cases striving to achieve shared organizational goals.
Pro-actively monitoring and tuning database maintenance jobs and alerts (backups; tuning; alerts on system error messages and handling) on all the databases
Responsible for installing (some with clusters); upgrading; patching and keeping SQL servers up to date with the latest Service packs
Implementing database replications and migrations from one server to another for generating reports and synchronizing the development and production environments
Troubleshooting SQL server connectivity problems and various errors as part of day-to-day maintenance of servers
Help with tuning complex queries and stored procedures
Responsible for changing data feeds and database schema in support of changes
Perform Query optimizations and assist application developers with their database needs
Participates in development and implementation of disaster recovery plans
Helps create; enforce and manage the policies and procedures
Excel in a fast paced; rapid development environment
Excellent communication Skillsskills
Position Requirements
Bachelors degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of SQL 2000, 2005, and 2008 Database Administration experience with additional experience in database migrations preferred.
