SQL Server DBA Position Description - Developing, documenting, disseminating, implementing and administering strategies, standards, policies, models, test plans and databases that recognize information as a valuable asset that serves all stakeholders in the company. - Developing and implementing software development methodologies and processes to improve quality and increase productivity. Expected to enhance the software development lifecycle for new and existing products. - Collaborating, teaching and mentoring team members (including junior) on database standards and best practices. - Gathering system requirements - Designing system architecture, processes, and communications - Responsible for the personal development of software developers, providing leadership by example. - Release control, coordination, and adherence to standards for multiple products. - Complete product and system testing. - Ongoing product maintenance. - Directing field troubleshooting efforts. - Acting as a product liaison with the Product Manager, Engineering team, Project Managers and Field Service. Minimum Requirements - 8 years of experience in information systems analysis, design, development, testing and/or implementation - 4+ years DBA experience, including experience administering Microsoft SQL Server 2000, 2005 or 2008 database - Experience with database administration tasks such as performance tuning, database configuration design and troubleshooting required - Experience with the effective usage and development of complex stored procedures, views and triggers. - Understanding and working knowledge of database backup and recovery strategies - In depth understanding of the Structured Query Language and RDMS Additional Knowledge & Skills - Development process control. - Detailed knowledge of database design, planning, definition, structure, documentation, long-range requirements, operational guidelines and protection. - Client/Server software development, relational databases (including SQL Server). - Must be accountable and responsible for working on Business critical products that are distributed to customers nationwide and operate in a 24/7/365 environment. - Must have the ability to provide 3rd level support for all products involved with, whenever necessary. - Verbal and written communications skills. Technical writing, system documentation, design document-management skills. - Demonstrated self-starter, interpersonal skills. - Ability to diagnose and resolve problem independently. - Creative problem solving skills. Education 4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience
