Data Warehouse Administrator/SQL DBA
The expectations & responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:
* The ability to work effectively with a wide variety of technical and non-technical Associates in a team environment.
* Participation in and/or management of IT projects using a structured Project Methodology related to database administration, application upgrades/support, and troubleshooting for MPD business applications hosted on a SQL server architecture.
* The ability to apply and improve upon existing technologies, maintain existing systems, and implement new technical architecture as required to meet the needs of the business
* Providing database/application support for a number of business-critical applications which are coupled to Microsoft SQL Server database architecture....Applications may include Product Surveillance tracking system, document management systems, maintenance and calibration systems, data-acquisition systems, site security systems, and other business critical applications
* Supporting existing Microsoft SQL Server environment with 75+ MS SQL servers and databases in a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulated, validated environment
* Planning, installing, and implementing new databases using Microsoft SQL Server 2000 through 2008, standalone or clustered architecture
* Implementing and supporting multi-tier application architecture using SQL Server as the primary Database platform
* Providing technical requirements and support during application evaluation and implementation. This may include suggesting guidelines for vendor product evaluation
* Configuring and installing client/server applications and web-based environments
* Troubleshooting issues of performance and/or errors in a multi-tiered environment
* Providing ongoing database support in a 24x7 multi-server production environment
* Participate in on-call support on a rotating basis with other team members
* Developing, coordinating and communicating Project Charter/Project Plans to outline end-user requirements, system requirements, reporting requirements and training requirements
* Utilizing a structured Project Management methodology when implementing and supporting server database/clusters
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* BS degree in Computer related discipline or 3-5 years experience administrating and supporting a Microsoft SQL Server
* Comprehensive understanding of SQL Server architecture to include hardware configuration, logical and physical database implementation, performance tuning and security models
* Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
