Senior Database Engineer
Responsibilities
* Operational ownership of all our mission-critical databases and data warehouses.
* Ensure redundancy, security, performance, monitoring and operability needs are met.
* Work with developers to understand technical requirements for building out new features.
* Respond quickly to ad-hoc business requests.
* Work effectively in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
* Build and lead a team of DBAs.
Requirements
* Expert knowledge of MySQL 5.0 and 5.1.
* Deep understanding of MySQL replication issues.
* Experience with logical partitioning in MySQL 5.1.
* Experience w/ large data volumes (tables with hundreds of millions to billions of records).
* Hands-on performance tuning in MySQL, including HW tuning and applying patches.
* Demonstrated experience writing and understanding complex SQL.
* Expert-level knowledge of triggers, views and stored procedures in MySQL.
* BS degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
* Familiarity with Java and/or scripting languages such as Perl, Python, Ruby.
* Strong communication skills.
