Database Administrator (Oracle)
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
*
Installing and configuring databases and database-related software utilities to meet department needs.
*
Developing scripts to monitor and support database environments.
*
Developing and testing backup and recovery processes to ensure high availability and recoverability of databases.
*
Collecting and analyzing data for capacity planning and performance monitoring.
*
Independently performing functions to administer system access (e.g. setting up accounts, maintaining privileges and roles, maintaining passwords,).
*
Working with Enterprise Data, Information Security and Change Management to ensure internal controls compliance.
*
Reviewing and contributing to system design documents (SDD) to meet the objectives of projects.
*
Defining DBA tasks and providing time estimates to aid in project scheduling.
*
Coordinating tasks with other IT departments.
*
Monitoring progress against task estimates to provide status.
*
Assisting with the database infrastructure design to meet project objectives.
*
Translating logical data elements into the physical data design.
*
Supporting database changes during user acceptance testing and post implementation to ensure integrity of the application.
*
Participating in Business Continuity Plan (BCP) projects and tests to ensure high availability of our critical production databases.
*
Developing and maintaining knowledge in area of expertise, as well as a general understanding of all databases and operating systems, to provide daytime and after hours support for production databases.
*
Recognizing process and standard inefficiencies and making suggestions for improvement.
