Distributed DBA - SQL Server Specialist (
Position Description:
The Global Distributed DBA team is a close-knit group of dedicated database support professionals, working in offices throughout North America, Europe and Asia. We provide firm-wide 24x7 support for Distributed Databases across the following RDBMS platforms: - Sybase, DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Informix and Microsoft Analysis Services. We provide container level support for all these products and consultation across the “Tier 1” Development products (Sybase, DB2, and Microsoft Analysis Services).
Your primary role in the DBA team will be to provide Performance and Tuning and Installation support on the Microsoft platform for one of our major internal clients. In addition there will be an opportunity to undertake engineering projects for the Firm’s Microsoft Database infrastructure.
Skills Required:
• An excellent understanding of the Microsoft Database Technologies, in particular Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Analysis Services
• A solid understanding of Windows Operating System
• Knowledge of other Database Vendor products advantageous
• Good PowerShell and/or Perl scripting knowledge desirable
• Good problem solving skills and the ability to multi-task effectively
• Excellent communication skills (including strong written and spoken English
