Senior Database Administrator
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide leadership and guidance across multiple RDBMS systems to the DBA team. Develop the ability to set team priorities and organize team processes.
• Collaborate with Agile/Scrum teams to collect database processing requirements and work with DBA team members to make recommendations and implement RDBMS infrastructure and architecture.
• Administer and support 24x7 highly-available SAN based production enterprise environments across multiple data centers.
• Install, configure and validate RDBMS software, HADR, replication, log shipping and backup and recovery procedures.
• Design, implement and support a disaster recovery implementation that leverages the ability to failover and failback real-time very large databases within the acceptable SLA.
• Proactively monitor server, database and ETL process health to ensure availability and performance.
• Perform capacity planning, recommend and implement solutions to provide scalability.
• Build and enforce database change management policies, security standards and best practices across various database environments and ensure processes are adhered to and documented.
• Support production deployments of database schema changes.
• Create automated data driven scripted solutions to perform various administration and monitoring tasks.
• Perform development and maintenance of data models and work closely with the Agile/Scrum teams to design database schema, including data warehouse design.
• Maintain physical environments and database schema in dev, qa, uat and staging environments.
Job Qualifications REQUIREMENTS:
• Able to support multiple development and qa teams, while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Able to demonstrate leadership skills and build positive relationships with all teams the DBA’s support.
• 7+ years of stable and progressive experience installing and configuring medium to large DB2 databases in 24x7 enterprise SAN based 64-bit environments.
• 7+ years installing, configuring and managing DB2 databases in a distributed environment, including backup and recovery, HADR, SQL replication and log-shipping.
• 7+ years maintaining and exercising real-time disaster recovery fail-over and fail-back events for high transaction systems.
• 7+ years tuning all aspects DB2, including SQL query evaluation and tuning.
• 3+ years installing, configuring and tuning MSSQL or MySQL on a 64-bit based platform, including backup and recovery and configuring and maintaining replication.
• 7+ years in collaborative database design, including data warehouse design and SQL query development.
• 7+ years of stable and progressive UNIX/Linux shell scripting and automation experience.
• 2+ years of experience with the Agile/Scrum development process.
• 5+ years of team leadership experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to develop, write and enforce procedures and policies.
