Senior MySQL DBA

Job Role • Contribute to the design and implementation of our applications, specifically in regards to scalability, failover, query optimization, and all other aspects of scalable MySQL database design and development • Setting up MySQL monitoring, backups, replication, load balancing and clustering • Own and manage our database architecture and overall functional performance and deliverables for this part of our technology solution(s) • Documenting of code and design requirement, change management inclusions and functional spec updates • Participate in design, review and status meetings • Knowledge and skills sharing/transfer across the team as required • Stay current with current database theory, practice, community and applications

Required Skills and Experience: • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Computer Science or related experience • Must have at least 5 years experience developing, testing, deploying and maintaining MySQL database technology that power medium and large scale web applications • Demonstrable experience developing with open source technologies is highly desirable and beneficial (i.e. PHP, Ruby, Python, etc.) • Minimum of 8 years experience with SQL-based database development • Experience with agile methodology practices • Understanding of common web concepts and technologies, such as: JavaScript (AJAX), HTML, CSS, XML, and other related technologies • Excellent communication skills • The ability to take initiative, solve problems, and communicate effectively • Analytical and quantitative skills
