Senior Database Administrator

The position requires extensive experience in all aspects of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 database management, including T-SQL programming, data modeling, security, database maintenance, backup/recovery, SSIS, and performance tuning and monitoring. Principal responsibilities are ensuring the data integrity and performance of production databases. This person will work with a team of DBAs and assist in planning, capacity planning and supporting biotech manufacturing and enterprise-wide applications. Also responsible to support development teams by providing guidance and best practice solutions.

Job duties include but are not limited to:

Support company operations in a high-throughput production environment by proactively managing the performance, integrity, and security of manufacturing workflow and real-time database applications.

Support company administration by supporting enterprise-wide database applications (i.e., HRIS, Defect Tracking, Sharepoint).

Set-up, monitor, and maintain disaster recovery solutions for production databases provided by 3-rd party tools and SQL Server DR functions (i.e., warm stand-by servers).

Provide support to development groups in best practices for database design, index tuning, and stored procedure coding.

Assist in the creation and maintenance of customized database reports, tools, and analyses for end-users.

Work with a team of experienced DBA's to provide 24x7x365 support and reliability of backup and recovery processes.

Participate in ETL activities and new data warehousing initiatives.

Other duties as assigned.

Education and experience:

B.S. Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent work experience; Prior work experience in a life sciences or pharmaceutical company a plus. Three years experience providing database support and maintenance in a high volume production environment.

Five years hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server and related tools. Includes detailed knowledge of Transact SQL as well as reporting, query tuning, and schema design.

High levels of attention to detail and quality of work. The candidate should be methodical and detail oriented, capable of multitasking in a high throughput environment.

Understanding of Manufacturing QA/QC or SPC methodologies and tools a plus.

Customer focused, team oriented, self motivated, and enjoys working in a collaborative environment.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
