Junior Database Engineer
Essential Duties:
* Write PL/SQL to process incoming metrics from devices across the country
* Assist middleware developers in writing SQL and creating schema structures to support new application features
* Diagnose performance problems and tune database processes
* Provide escalation support for production systems
* Build and maintain ETL processes for test environment data and external reporting
* Create and apply patches; assist with version-controlling database objects
* Works closely with engineers to deliver mission critical energy information software to the entire organization
* Performs other duties as required
Required Qualifications/Skills/Education:
* 1-3 years experience as an Oracle developer or DBA
* Good knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL
* B.S. Information Technology, Information Systems Management, Computer Science, or related technical field
* Must possess outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English
* Should have experience in the production of documentation
* A dynamic, proactive personality
* Ability to prioritize developmental and operational tasks in a dynamic and challenging environment
Desired Qualifications/Skills/Education:
* Exposure to J2EE, JDBC, and Object-Relational Mapping
* Familiarity with SQL*Loader, Data Pump, and OEM
* Experience providing on-call support
* Understanding of software lifecycle principles: requirements documents, versioning, defect tracking, etc.
* Knowledge and understanding of the energy market/domain, including the business needs of end-users
* Experience specifically with Oracle 10g RAC is ideal, but not mandatory
Other Requirements and Characteristics:
* Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts; driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
* Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
