Senior Database Administrator

Seeks a Senior Database Administrator for the Technical Support department. Position maintains and tunes multiple database systems, at the application, hardware, and software levels. Supports application development staff in programming, data analysis, and enhancing production applications. Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of database backup and recovery processes. Responsible for administering and auditing database security. Performs installation, upgrades, and patching of database software. Develops integration and standardization strategies for database implementation. Assists MIS staff in diagnostic and troubleshooting efforts. Plans for and scripts database utilities for the monitoring and maintenance of database systems. Understands and adheres to change management processes as required.

Requirements BA/BS degree or equivalent in MIS or other related field preferred. Technology/database specific certification or equivalent preferred. Must have 5+ years as database administrator in a heterogeneous computing environment. Must have experience with Oracle and DB2 UDB database platform. Must have experience with Unix environments & be comfortable with shell scripting. Experience with Teradata considered a plus. Must be able to communicate effectively & tactfully with all levels of personnel. Must participate in DBA on-call support rotation. Must be able to work flexible hours, including overtime, if & when necessary. Must be able to work under minimal supervision. Must be able to pay close attention to detail and understand written & oral instructions. Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks and respond to emergencies. Must be able to work efficiently under time constraints in a fast paced environment. Must be able to organize & schedule work effectively. Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
