SQL DBA
Job Description The SQL DBA / Crystal Reports Developer will be responsible for maintaining all of application databases. They will be responsible for updating the software, tuning the databases. The SQL DBA / Programmer position of report writer requires an individual that can communicate, understand, translate, and deliver report requests for a diverse user community. From a set of requirements, they will create and maintain reports using SQL and/or Crystal Reports, as well as work with the database to create stored procedures, functions and views. Job requires interfacing with business owners, internal and external groups to understand requirements and suggest solutions, troubleshoot problems and support business reporting needs.
Responsibilities / Duties:
Install, maintain and monitor all SQL databases.
Tune all SQL databases.
Plan for and execute upgrades to the SQL database application and all hosted and integrated systems.
Based on user requests and business needs the position will design, build and deploy reports, executables and system integrations.
Work with users to gather specifications for data and report requirements.
Effectively translates end user reporting requirements into technical design documents.
Understand complete report writing process.
Create, Maintain, Optimize and support new and existing complex reports.
Strong testing disciplines.
Systematically identify and define problems, evaluate alternatives and implement effective solutions.
Using knowledge of database relations, creates design documents that can be used for efficient and accurate report development
Develop SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and/or calculate information to fulfill data and reporting requirements
Troubleshoot reporting and report scheduling issues
Job Qualifications Microsoft SQL certification or formal training.
Bachelors degree in computer engineering or computer systems administration and/or 3-5 years of equivalent experience.
Experience managing SQL databases in a corporate mission critical environment.
Experience in managing a SQL database and hosted application for multiple sites and hundreds of users.
Experience using Crystal Report Developer, Visual Basic and other programming and interface tools deployed in a SQL database / application environment.
Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills and ability to trace report performance issues to root cause.
Strong ability to gather and analyze reports requirements and translate into technical solutions.
Excellent ability to read data models and understands database table relationships.
Strong knowledge of Crystal Reports and/or Business Objects Enterprise or similar report running software
Ability to work in a fast paced, constantly changing environment.
Able to meet or exceed project deadlines.
