Database Administrator
Essential Functions
60% — Administers database systems including monitoring, managing, tuning, troubleshooting and security of database systems
15% — Uses Recovery Manager (RMAN) for backup, cloning and recovery of data
10% — Maintains and monitors Data Guard security
5% — Supports and works closely with developers and users
5% — Responsible for infrastructure and capacity planning
5% — Responsible for SQL scripting and documentation
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of, and experience with enterprise version of Oracle 9i or 10g, HPUX, UNIX or Windows platforms, and other databases such as Peoplesoft Sybase, Informix, Structured Query Language (SQL) or MS/SQL
- Experience in developing conceptual data models from analysis of business processes and user needs as well as experience in the solutions/structures, data normalization, database security and implementation
- Knowledge of, and experience with operating systems such as Novell, Windows NT, VMS, worldwide web (WWW) interfaces to databases systems
- Knowledge of C, C++, Perl, Java and CGI programming
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Oracle, 10g and SQL server
- Experience with HPUX, UNIX and Windows
- Experience with Weblogic
- Experience with Peoplesoft Application server
- Experience with programming languages
