Database Administrator

As a Database Administrator you will support definition of data management requirements, assist with detailed design, implement and populate database schemas and provide the specialized expertise required by the Application staff to build and operate data management systems. In addition you will support development technologies within Portal, Data Warehousing, Workflow, CRM and Handhelds.

* Maintain development, test production database environments. * Monitor the databases and optimize database performance and use of resources, including selecting optimal physical implementations of databases. * Direct programmers and analyst to make changes to data base management system. * Specify which users can access databases and what data can be accessed by user. * Help application programmers to install and tune their database related programs. * Give guidance in effective use of database features. * Oversee the maintenance of the database content with persons responsible for the application. * Creation and deletion of databases. * Database capacity planning. * Review and develop data models and database designs. * Liaison with the database software vendor and database content licenses. * Support database users with advice and needs. * Develop applications within Portal, Workflow, CRM and Handhelds.

SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS

* Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related, or equivalent training and experience. * Minimum 4 years of programming experience. * Minimum of two years related experience and familiarity with * Microsoft SQL Server 7.0., various reporting tools (e.g. Cognos Powerplay and Cognos Impromptu), Data Transformation Services, OLAP technology, and Data Warehousing.
