Data Warehouse/Data Mgnt Developer/Analyst (SQL)

Design, develop and maintain business systems to satisfy financial and statutory reporting requirements along with enhancing and facilitating corporate decision making capabilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Work independently and with other members of the data warehouse development team to design and develop solutions to support business needs using the appropriate platform, tools and programming languages on assorted system requests. 2. Using independent judgment, analyze business requirements and work with client areas to produce functional specifications for use as reference for IT personnel and as project guidelines. 3. Perform the first level of testing for a new and/or enhanced system. Provide support for acceptance testing. 4. Maintain existing business systems by providing production support for troubleshooting and regular processing needs. 5. Conduct performance tuning on new and existing systems to insure optimal efficiency 6. On call support for existing and newly designed systems. 7. Ensure newly designed systems run as needed, perform validity check on production output, troubleshoot when necessary and coordinate emergency procedures among all affected personnel in the event of a failure. 8. Insure that all new and existing systems meet insurance industry compliance requirements. 9. Interface with external insurance industry regulators. 10. Maintain a current knowledge of warehousing principles and industry products. 11. Simultaneously manage multiple assignments. Work in an efficient manner resulting in low defect, high quality data that fulfills the specified business requirements. Confer with management and personnel of other departments affected to resolve identified issues. Remain current with emerging technologies. 12. Present subjects/issues clearly to all technical and non-technical audiences. Provide regular communication to management on programming assignment issues and status. Coordinate production implementation efforts with affected technical staff responsible for implementing associated deliverables.

EDUCATION/SKILL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Requires a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering or equivalent related business experience. Strong organizational, time management and analytical skills. Strong oral and written communication skills.

Intermediate level experience in technical system design. Two to four years of insurance experience required. Property/Casualty experience preferred. Experience supporting statutory financial statements/audits and state compliance reporting for insurance companies a plus. Extensive experience with SQL server 2000 & 2005, T-SQL, and VB6 Experience working with COBOL, C# and VB.net a plus Experience working with source code control, production control and issue tracking systems desired Experience working on a Microsoft Windows platform Proficiency in Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook are essential Requires excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills with a team-oriented approach Analytical and problem-solving abilities Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related discipline or equivalent related work experience. Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
