Database Administrator
Key Job Responsibilities:
• Manage enterprise level database environments
• Provide Tier II support for the database applications in a 24 x 7 environment
• Manage the life cycle of databases from creation, support and tuning, to architecting backup solutions that meet customers service level agreements for downtime/loss but are still cost effective
• Work in a team environment with a strong emphasis on providing service to internal customers.
• Plan, test, and perform database software upgrades for both development
and production enterprise systems.
• Help architect new solutions that are cost effective
• Refresh production data to test and development environments
• Identify current processes that are labor intensive as opportunities for automation by either writing scripts/programs or recommending tools that will automate the process.
• Document and diagram current steady state work as well as future project based work
Position Requirements: • Minimum of 3 years experience with Sql Server 2000/2005(must)
• Additional Experience in DB2, Oracle 9i,10g, or Progress is desirable.
• Bachelors degree, or equivalent experience in an IT related field. (must)
• Minimum 3 years system administration (Windows, AIX, Solaris) (must)
• Experience as a DBA for PeopleSoft, Glovia or MFGPro desirable.
• Ability to perform tier II on-call production support (must)
• Database tuning – Must be able to work with end users and application developers in identifying, analyzing, and implementing solutions to database performance problems. (must)
• Ability to create, implement and maintain DTS/SSIS scripts and replication via log shipping / RMAN.
• Write/modify UNIX Shell scripts in shell script languages such as ksh, bash, and perl (want)
• Ablity to write and tune T-Sql and stored procedures (must)
• Programming experience in VB.Net, C# or Java (want)
• Competent in backup and recovery of various database technologies – exports, Oracle RMAN and Tivoli Storage Manager. (want)
• Basic UNIX/Windows System Administration – setup environment parameters; ability to troubleshoot system performance issues.
• Tivoli Storage Manager, SQL Backtrack experience would be desirable.
• IBM Websphere experience and a strong understanding of SOA are desirable.
• Write Oracle PL-SQL Scripts – create PL-SQL scripts in SQLPLUS; query and modify database tables. (want)
