SENIOR DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR
Education:
o Bachelor**s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience and knowledge.
Experience:
o Minimum five years administering and developing an enterprise RDBMS.
o Minimum two years Oracle 9i / 10g.
o Minimum one year Microsoft SQL Server 2005.
o Minimum one year Microsoft SQL Server 2000
o Minimum one year Microsoft DTS.
o Minimum one year UNIX or Linux, administration or development.
Knowledge and Skills:
o Thorough understanding of product development lifecycle.
o Understanding of the concept of software evolution.
o Ability to mentor development staff in query development/tuning.
o Proficient in UNIX shell scripting and Windows scripting.
o Very strong analysis skills and ability to understand data architecture of new products.
o Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
o Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in the principles, procedures and best practices related to this position.
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
o Strong level of software proficiency in using PC software to support activities, especially Microsoft Office, Oracle 10g, SQL Server 2000 and 2005.
o Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact well with all employee levels
o Ability to work with confidential material and maintain confidentiality along with sensitivity to employee**s needs and data.
o Strong attention to detail.
o Strong analytical skills.
Other (Required licenses, certifications, schedule flexibility/OT, travel etc.):
o Must have scheduling flexibility and be able to work overtime as needed.
o Must be able to work on Saturday and Sunday as needed.

1 Ensures all DB systems are recoverable at various levels (backups, log shipping, failover, etc.)
2 Designs, codes, tests, and executes physical databases from logical designs.
3 Works with operations staff on performance and tuning analysis, system support, optimization, and software upgrades.
4 Maintains databases to determine access rights, validation, and mode of access by users.
5 Tunes and reorganizes the databases.
6 Redesigns databases as business needs change.
7 Recommends ways new database management systems can be implemented.
8 Creates designs that have appropriate integrity and constraints
9 Creates query and table designs that are efficient, scalable, and maintainable.
10 Maintains security and control in a non-defensive constructive way.
11 Deals with emergency issues in an emergency manner.
12 Relates to other team members in a professional manner.
13 Process all required paperwork according to established procedures.
14 Answers telephone calls, faxes and emails in a professional and timely manner.
15 Strong level of software proficiency in using PC software to support activities, especially Microsoft Office, Oracle 10g, SQL Server 2000 and 2005.
16 Proficient interpersonal skills and the ability to interact well with all employee levels.
17 Requires sensitivity to employee**s needs and data.
18 Performs responsibilities as directed achieving desired results within expected time frames and with a high degree of quality and professionalism.
